Common questions
Are the tools really free?
Yes. Every tool on YourToolDeck is free to use, with no premium tier, no paywall, and no sign-up. We don't run display ads inside the tools either — the only ads anywhere on the site are unobtrusive placements that help cover hosting costs.
Do you collect or track my data?
No. The tools run entirely in your browser — anything you paste, type, or upload stays on your device and is never sent to us. We use a cookieless analytics service (Umami) to count aggregate pageviews, but we don't build profiles, track you across sites, or sell data. Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no logins anywhere on YourToolDeck. Open a tool and use it.
Can I use the tools offline?
Mostly, yes. Once a tool's page has loaded, the work happens locally — formatting JSON, generating UUIDs, calculating loans, encoding base64 and so on all run with no further network calls. The obvious exceptions are tools that fetch live data (World Clock, the geocoding side of the Location tool, fetching JSON from a URL) — those need a connection.
Are the tools mobile-friendly?
Yes. Every tool is built responsive-first and tested on phones as well as desktops. A few of the developer-focused tools (the JSON comparator, for example) are easier to use on a wider screen, but they all work on mobile.
Is YourToolDeck open source?
Not at this time. The source isn't publicly available today. That may change in the future, but there's no firm timeline.
Can I request a new tool?
Yes — please do. Tool requests are how the deck grows. Send your idea via the feedback form at https://yourtooldeck.com/feedback and it goes straight to the team.
How is YourToolDeck funded?
It's a personal project, not a startup. There's no investor money, no subscription tier, and no plan to gate features behind a paywall. Hosting costs are kept low by design and offset by a small amount of advertising on the deck home and a few high-traffic pages.
Why is it called a "deck"?
Because each tool is deliberately small and single-purpose — a card in a deck rather than a feature in a sprawling app. The collection grows by adding more cards, not by stuffing more knobs onto the existing ones.
